Oat Wafers

Here is an old-fashioned favourite that is delicious served warm with ice cream. Made with fresh apples and our nutritious organic ingredients, this dessert is a healthy way to indulge! Source: Mennonite Community CookBook Ingredients (Use organic where possible) 1/4 tsp baking soda 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup melted butter 3/4 cup Organic Oat Flakes 1 quart peeled and sliced apples 1/8 tsp sea salt (or salt) 1 cup sugar 1 tbsp Organic Unbleached Cake & Pastry Flour Directions Pre-heat oven to 375F.
Pare and slice the apples. Combine the 1 cup sugar, salt, cinnamon, and flour and sprinkle over the apples. Put apple mixture in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Combine the oat flakes, brown sugar and soda. Add melted butter and rub into oat flake mixture to make crumbs. Place the crumbs on top of the apples, patting them down evenly. Bake at 375F for approx. 40 minutes. Serves 6-8
